We have so much baby stuff in the house from dd. He will get loads of stuff from other people and we not too flush. AND i really do not want more STUFF in the house.

TBH if it werent for DD i wouldnt really be worried, but feel like she should see him have some presents from us. They will both "get" her main present of a little ikea table and chairs. And i am going to get him a woozit mirror thing i have seen. Really, he has so much stuff. And will be getting loads from family as well.

OK - so either tell me not to sweat it. OR give me some great pressie ideas for a 6mo that i havent already thought of. OR help me think of some way of getting round the wanting to include him in presents wihout buying anything.

ta all

When ds was 6m we gave him a wooden xylophone that had 4 notes - he loved it.

But totally OK not to get loads of stuff (or anything) for 6mo!

My DS will be 4 months and we're not getting him anything. No money, and he'll get a few things from grandparents/aunts/uncles. Someone suggested on another thread that you wrap up a toy he already has, just so he can join in the unwrapping. I might do that. We've got a huge bag of stuff given to us by friends, most of which he's never even looked at!

have only bought 2 little toys for dd2 who is 9m

though she will be getting stuff from relatives too of course

remember going a bit overboard on dd1's first xmas when she was a similar age and it was a bit daft really-they really don't have a clue at this age

on the other hand chewing paper is one of dd2's favourite activities when she can get away with it so i reckon she's in for a good time whatever!

DD3 was 5 months last Christmas and we got her a stocking more for the other two to see she was getting something from Santa as well. Santa brought her a baby walker that was brand new but donated from a friend, she would have got it anyway but we thought it would be nice if Santa brought it. In her stocking we put some weaning spoons, bowls, a cup and some bibs things we would have bought her anyway.

Do you have some baby toys you could wrap up?

DS was 6mo last year and we did similar to sweetkitty - stocking with "useful" stuff including weaning paraphernalia and a toothbrush (which he didn't need for a few months)

We also got a big dinosaur cushion to help him sit - he didn't have anything like that and he was still a bit wobbly to sit unaided.

It was mainly for DD to see him getting some presents. Of course she was desperate to open his as well.

DD2 is seven months. She's getting a cosy outfit, a rattle, some bath toys, a bowl, spoons and a hat.

DS2 is 9 months.

We have bought him one of those activity cubes, a new outfit, pyjamas etc.

We are also planning to get some toys down from the loft and wrapping those, so DS1 doesn't think DS2 has got far less presents

i havn't got ds2 (4months) much either, a leapfrog activity table, a baby piano thing, a shape sorter, stacking cups and some wooden bricks. He wont even be able to play with it for a bit yet but he has EVERYTHING else and there are only so many soft, crinkly, rattly, squeaky, teethery, musical toys a baby can have! Anyway he has sitting aid ring already, playmats, door bouncer, bouncy chair, baby swing. Getting a baby walker from db, highchair from gp. So i think thats it until his birthday! ds1 (3.8) on the other hand has a never ending list

Wrap stuff he already has. Neither he nor your DD will be any the wiser, you'll not have to buy more stuff, ergo you will not have to house more stuff.

Last Chirstmas Ds was 3 months old and I painted him an old, blanket box a bright blue with his name on, and bought a few toys from Ebay - a whoozit, whoozit rattle, Lamaze "Fishbowl", whoozit car seat toy thing and a soft toy octopus - cost about £20 in all. But it was just us three at home, so no pressure from any other DC or other family.
