How do I give dh this present? Need ideas!

I need some help with dh's present. I've decided what it is I want to give him, I just don't know exactly how to present it to him!

Buying him anything is a bit pointless, as when he wants something, he gets it for himself. So I've had to think about something less material and more from me personally. This is what I've come up with: he has breakfast and lunch at work every day (he leaves the house v. early, before ds and I have got up), and he has mentioned a couple of times that he's getting a bit bored with what they have on offer in the canteen - he'd like something a bit different or a bit tastier, and healthier.

Anyway, I thought that I could basically do him a month of breakfast/lunches, really nice tasty "posh" sandwiches or savoury muffins or salads etc. I think he would really appreciate this and I'd like doing it for him.

But how do I give it to him? I mean, shall I buy him a nice lunchbox and put some "vouchers" in it? Shall I put together a menu of the different sorts of things on offer? I want a really nice, maybe quirky, way of giving this present, without me just saying "oh I'm going to make you a packed lunch every day for a month darling"...Does anyone have any ideas?

(Incidentally, I've been somewhat inspired by a new cupcake shop that has opened in the next village - they do savoury cupcakes which I've just tried one of - mozzarella, tomato and basil, served with a roast pepper dip. It cost 2.40 euros, so not exactly expensive, and was absolutely GORGEOUS. And easily enough for lunch. And I was thinking - if only they had something like this near where dh works. But they don't. And I guess if you had that every day, it would end up expensive. Anyway, that was the inspiration behind this idea.)

I think a cheque book of menus would be good, he can tear out and "order" which ones he fancied. Maybe buy him a nice cheque book holder to keep them in?

You mean you don't already make your DH's packed lunches everyday?

Nice lunchbox with vouchers sounds good.

No, don't do packed lunches as he can eat at work, and always has done. And as ds is not at school, I'm not doing packed lunches yet anyway.
No bag for work, so nothing to slip anything into.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I'm liking the sound of the cheque-book thing. I need to get him a lunch box too, though. Or at least some sort of container for him to transport his lunch in (um, that would be a lunch box then....). What are those japanese lunch boxes called? They look cool and trendy. Though he'd probably prefer a Spongebob one, knowing him

Hmmm, now just have to think of a month of lunches

They're called bento boxes and it sounds like a fab idea! Maybe also a wide mouth flask for soup? I've got a rather nice enamel-finish thermos which is rather brilliant {grin]

Never made them myself, but am going to try. I guess they are the same as savoury muffins?
The place near us had three on offer: mozarella, tomato and basil with roast pepper sauce (served in a dinky little extra pot), black olive and feta served with a white bean dip, and something with parma ham and parmesan (I think).
I tried the mozarella one, and it was gorgeous. Divine. It really worked. I'm going to get myself a muffin/cupcake recipe book I think, as I need some inspiration!
