Christmas Presents for a 4 and half year old girl, any suggestions

Is it me? I'm totally uninspired with girls toys. What are people buying for girls this year? I haven't got much money to spend, but it all looks like tat to me. Seems that boys are a lot easier to buy for.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Fran

i'm totally the opposite and find girls much easier to buy for than girls! from me she is getting a pop up fairy bridesmaid book and a ballet book and some fairy and unicorn playmobile sets. my parents are giving her the playmobil take along dolls house and the in-laws are giving her the HSM dance mat, as she has played with this at friends house and really liked it. i may have to go shopping though, as when she saw santa on friday she asked for a toy dog - i think she means the one's on a lead which you press a button and they walk etc.
current toys which are popular - any drawing stuff, sleeping beauty castle and polly pocket type disney figures to play with, dressing up.
hope this gives you ideas!

Many thanks Unfit. I like the idea of a dance mat and the dressing up thing is good. I'll have to investigate the dance mat.

Thanks again, and have a great Christmas.

Mine is getting the pink vtec digital camera and a case for it. She has wanted this for ages.

She is also getting a lovely new doll and my sister is getting her a bed for it. I know most 4.5 yr old girls will have dolls and stuff but she is only just expressing a real interest in them.

Also a peppa pig tea set and a princess costume.

She is quite 'young' in her tastes compared to some of her pals though.

Dd is 3.5 and loves drawing/making/sticking so i have nicked another Mumsnetter's idea (thank you, if it was you ) and we will be getting her a box of craft bits. She has suggested 'a bag of jewels' (acrylic stick-on sparklys from ebay!!) and 'a surprise' from Father Christmas. Thanks for the help, dd

My niece is getting the ELC Mini Sizzlin' Kitchen. Also got one for my 22mo DD. Much smaller than the great big kitchen I've just chucked out into the garden!

Mine is getting the ELC singalong CD player, a barbie and the ELC styling head which she has been coveting since May.

From other members of the family I think she is getting some lego, sylvanian families, and a Disney princess polly pocket doll like unfitmummy mentioned (she's had one for 2 years which she has played with almost every day even though it is now missing an arm!)

Other winners with her would be playmobil, dressing up stuff, art and craft stuff - or just pens and lots of paper - and any Disney princess tat!

Another idea for a non-toy present is a wheelie suitcase - DD had one for her 4th birthday and it has been such a huge success. Hers is a Tyrrell Katz one - I think Letterbox do them.

DD1 is getting moonsand, a dance mat and scalelectrix. We've suggested a doodle bug and fold up scooter from mil.

Oh yes, dd LOVES her wheelie suitcase from (my) Granny. Trying to persuade her to get one for ds this year instead of another Evil Bunny lovely cuddly toy.

Thanks all, there's some good ideas here. Am going to investigate the playmobile as well. We've got DS the pyramid, so I guess they would mix and match.
