I like fibre optic as it saves pissing about with lights. Don't like the rest though.

While I have to admit I'm not fond of the new-fangled christmas trees, I'd have to say my position is that you're not doing it right if they're not a little tacky. Hate those overly designerish ones myself.

We have a little fibre-optic tree (green, 2ft) this year, as 9mo DS has just started to crawl/cruise/pull up and we had no expectation that he would understand "no" in time. But you have to have something.

Am hoping to make up for it with a nice fresh wreath for the front door.

I don't think DS was ever bothered by the tree when he was crawling but we did have an offer to borrow a playpen on standby just in case.

I like fibre-optic ones, they're nice to use and mean less faffing about. I don't particularly like odd coloured ones, as I like a dark background for the assorted baubles, tinsel etc. But I don't think they're any more or less tacky than anything else - you can do tacky just fine with a traditional tree if you work at it

I've seen pink and turquoise ones in the shop lately, and think that's just a way of making you buy a pile of new ornaments to put on them because nothing you already have will look remotely sensible on them. But if people are mugs, that's up to them.

Don't get upside down at all... Think it was originally a mistake, but someone took it seriously and the rest is tree-fashion history....

upside down are AWFUL Those half trees are good if you are short of space

I have a purple pop up tree from B and Q and I like it.
The decorations are already attached. I would have got a fibre optic one if I could have afforded it.

I love this one - but they sold out almost straight away. I prefer something that's not trying (and failing!) to look like a traditional Christmas tree...

YANBU - this year i have nicked my nan's fibre optic tree. I always thought it was terribly naff, but at least it is DD1 proof

I do miss the smell of a real tree though.

Oddly I don't mind fibreoptic trees.

What I really can't stand is designed Christmas trees, eg new colours this year to go with new hall paint or whatever, or this year we are going with blue and silver, etc. To me makes tree look as if it is borrowed from department store window.

I like either dark green real tree with v unfashionable silver lametta, minuscule white lights and no baubles or other decorations OR complete explosion of cracked old things you've got from your granny / made by children etc.

What are upside down and pop up trees??

Our tree is a dark green one, just a normal tree, but we moved house a few months ago and much have left all our decorations in the loft, so my gran and mum gave us some decorations and we bought some multi coloured lights. It is all mixed and milti coloured, i thought it was going to look mad but it looks great.

Don't mind fibre optic ones but i hate the coloured ones. My sis has a PINK one for her dd lol. We met a friend who was buying a whole load of new decorations because she had changed her living room to black, so couldn't use last years decor, imagine how much that would cost? DS wanted a santa head bauble that cost us £1.99, so imagine how much it would be to replace all your baubles? ahhh.

Yuk, yuk, yuk!

We have a real tree, white lights, and gold decorations, strings of beads, no tinsel allowed!

If you have to have an artificial tree, at least have a green one!
