Yanbu I've written list for all our DC and already have DD3's main present for birthday (also dec) and christmas.

We are going to buy a chest freezer and start buying food.

Yes, it's far too early. The sun is shining, we're about to have a heatwave, your chocolates will melt. Grin

Gawd yes eat the chocolate, or as we call it - hold it in your tummy

I have had a bargain turkey in the freezer since January!

Report
LizardBreath · 02/09/2014 16:45

Thing is, if you have some now you definitely won't fancy any Christmas. So makes sense to have them now.

Do turkey's last 12 months in a freezer?

I always start buying christmas goodies around now.
Jan-july camping food and goodies for the summer holidays.
Sep-dec christmas.
1 item each week soon add up and dont make much difference to the weekly shop.

Not out for a long time but I can never resist the Finest Yule Logs when they come out. That's when my Christmas food begins

DD looking for something particular from Sainsburys last night, in addition to DH muttering about how much his company are losing on the crappy exchange rate with sterling right now, pushed me over the edge. I have started a (likely to be LOOOONG) list with the intention of making a trip to Sainsbo's in early November - that gives me time to clear out the cupboards at home of various stray bits, and worth then getting lots of stores items. But it will also allow me to get lots of nice Sainsbobs own goodies, and a few nice things that seem particularly "British" (as in, the Irish stores never seem to stock them) - like bitter marmalade with big chunks of peel!! Much of which will be going away for Christmas feasting.

(I am also planning that, next week, as DH is away, I will use the "Spend X and get Y off" vouchers in 2 local supermarkets, to get at least 2 naice bottles of wine to have with turkey and another to scoff with pudding, which will be laid away until later in December. Instead of rushing around and putting up with something vaguely ok and not that little bit special as we've already spent so much....(I'm not talking break the bank special, just maybe €15-20 rather than €8-10, and one that actually suits turkey. And a half bottle of nice dessert wine as DH doesn't drink that but would probably have a half glass with pudding and I like it once a year with Christmas pud).

Oh no, can I admit that I have bought most of the presents for my lot today already? Just have my husband and my step son and one more thing for my daughter. I even bought cards!

Next on list is to order turkey because it is chuffing expensive nearer the time.

I feel like I should be concentrating on Halloween, but I hate it with a passion.

Have bought loads of parsips as they're on a great offer. Thinking soup starter and then roasted with the main course. If I don't eat them all within a week. Yum!

Well I booked my Christmas holiday escape abroad some time ago if that counts.
It's just annoying that I don't fly until Christmas Eve so still have to put up with the festive crap beforehand.
