Trying to find my 5 year old daughter a good toy farm, (one that won't break in 2 seconds!) Would like it to come with animals. Don't mind spending a bit of money as this will be her 'main present'. Thanks!

Holztiger?

The do a stable and a barn and LOTS of animals. Amazon sell them.

A 'tuff spot' with felt and playsilks to create the farm environment? See Pinterest or Google images for ideas.

Britains is the make you want I'd have thought.

What about playmobil farm? Then you could add other bits to extend it if she really likes it.

We had a combination if Playmobile and Britains. DDs both loved the farm and played with it for years.

Melissa and Doug do lovely wooden farm buildings and animals, very reasonably priced. I would really recommend them.

Look at this folding barn with animals <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/Fold-Go-Mini-Wooden-Barn/dp/B0026RK9C4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404201475&sr=8-1&keywords=melissa%20and%20doug%20farm&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">//www.amazon.co.uk/Fold-Go-Mini-Wooden-Barn/dp/B0026RK9C4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404201475&sr=8-1&keywords=melissa%20and%20doug%20farm&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Schleich does a n enormous selection of animals and outbuildings, fences, farmers, tractors and all of those things, but they are very pricey. You could buy a few of them and start it as a collection. The animals start from about 2.50 for the small ones. The quality is superb though. We have lots of them.

Britains is great. I had these pieces as a child, and my interest lasted for ages because as I got older I collected them a bit. Am planning to get Britains for my dd when she is a bit older. Lots of pieces second hand on eBay, too.

I would definitely go for Britains, Schleich are much bigger and the scale of the different kinds of animals is all out of whack.
