Am planning to get DS a hudl for xmas - he loves minecraft and I have googled until my eyes fall out but I can't find anywhere on the internet that categorically tells me if you can play minecraft on a hudl. Please, Hudl owners, someone put me out of my misery?

ELR Is the pocket edition the one you get on the iphone? He's tried that and got frustrated as its not the full game. Ooh, now I'm panicking. Re the Kindle Fire - is that the full minecraft you can play?

The android edition is exactly the same as the iPad edition.

Minecraft has many versions - Xbox, PC/Laptop, Tablet etc and they all vary slightly.

Which one does he play now?

He plays the basic App on the iPod. He doesn't have the £4.99 version.

So he's playing Minecraft Lite? The free edition app?

Yes you can. We have a nexus and they can play it on that, you can get the same app for the hudl, we are thinking of getting one for Xmas.

The full version can only be played on a proper PC I think all versions for tablets are pocket or lite ect.

Sorry to resurrect but can you also play games like angry birds and cut the rope? In fact can you do most of the games that you can do on other tablets? I'm a complete luddite but thinking of getting them for the DDs.

Yep anything from google play can be played on the hudl

Yes, BUT it is the "pocket edition" which means you don't have all of the blocks and you can't do all of the things. It's good in its own right but if they've been used to the computer version, it doesn't compare.

Diplo yes absolutely.

Thanks very much -no, due to me being a total Luddite they're not used to anything at the moment. Another stupid question - we don't have wifi at home (but will be getting it in the new year) will I be able to connect the Hudl to my desktop to download games for them in the meantime?

This is probably going to be a very silly question but I have an iPad and want to get minecraft for my ds where do I o to get it? (I'm not very techno minded) Blush

Not sure about the connection question. I know you can access the google play store on any internet browser: play.google.com/store?hl=en You can browse it and even purchase apps (though make sure the correct Google account is signed in!) but I think they are delivered via wifi.

OK Bertie. Thanks very much. Suppose I could go and sit in a costa or something.

Please could some lovely, lovely person tell me if I have to pay for it twice to down load it onto DD and DSs Hudls? Or is there a way that just paying for it means that you 'have' it and you can download it on different bits of hardware? Confused

Can anyone help?

Yes you can on a HUDL. My dd1 does happily.

Several people say yes, but when I try, Google Play says not compatible with your device (my daughter's hudl). Any suggestions?
