ok.. so mine craft is very poular this year. i know both my boys 4 and 7 are crazy about them.

iv found some goodies. there not bargains as they dont seem to do them but ideas for thouse that love mine craft.

tonight iv discovered how to make christmass creeper stockings...

all you need is a green stocking,.. www.amazon.co.uk/Unisex-Green-White-Christmas-Stocking/dp/B001L7YIO0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382218240&sr=8-1&keywords=green%20christmas%20stocking&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

then some black felt fabric to make the creepers face... you can ethier stitch or glue them on. so they look something liek this

<a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/236x/2b/32/e4/2b32e4f4720a66a49ef238bb405c111b.jpg&imgrefurl=www.pinterest.com/knitmama247/minecraft/&h=349&w=236&sz=12&tbnid=kem4hr5ef7LpgM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=61&zoom=1&usg=__3UNmHMrscyPNOOYCOZzC_LVi7N4=&docid=BW82GJBoX2H9fM&sa=X&ei=V_piUqGULKjS0QXfioGYBA&ved=0CDgQ9QEwBA" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/236x/2b/32/e4/2b32e4f4720a66a49ef238bb405c111b.jpg&imgrefurl=www.pinterest.com/knitmama247/minecraft/&h=349&w=236&sz=12&tbnid=kem4hr5ef7LpgM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=61&zoom=1&usg=__3UNmHMrscyPNOOYCOZzC_LVi7N4=&docid=BW82GJBoX2H9fM&sa=X&ei=V_piUqGULKjS0QXfioGYBA&ved=0CDgQ9QEwBA

also ebay have MC torch.. iv brought these and they are lovely. they hang on the wall by folding back a corner and being sliped on a hook. perfect night light and toy... dont forget to keep the zombies away.

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Minecraft-Light-Up-Torch-ThinkGeek-11-Long-/370918007633?pt=UK_VideoGames_Merchandise_RL&hash=item565c6fa351

quite a few different cushions.. i like the first couple.. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.Xmine+craft+cushions&_nkw=mine+craft+cushions&_sacat=0&_from=R40

My 13 year old is a minecraft addict and you have given me some great ideas for his Christmas pressies. He's also found a minecraft sword online that he can't live without, apparently!! It's really pricey stuff I thought for what it is, so will have to consider carefully what I buy. Thanks for the info.

Just read online that minecraft figures are due to be released mid november. You can pre order from a few sellers on ebay. £12.50 for 8 inch hight steve creeper or enderman. I'd imagine these will sell bery very quickly

I love the stocking idea. Thanks wondering. I'm definitely going to do that! Grin

I have 2 minecraft mad boys. Right now one is playing it and the other is on YouTube watching other people playing it. Hmm But better that than talking to me about it. The horror.

I've been daft enough to buy one of those foam swords and a pickaxe. I must have eejit written across my forehead. They're sturdier than I thought actually. I also bought the minecraft beginners book 1. It's much smaller sized than I thought but looks really good. It's probably a great stocking sized gift.

If anyone is after the minecraft annual I bought one fom sainsburys for £4 which was a decent price. The book people have them on 2 for £6 (which I also got) but they are OOS at the moment.

Just need 2 Steves, a redstone ore light and one of those torches. Flipping kids are bankrupting me!

That cushion in the OP could be made from patchwork, I might try doing that.

I've been looking at the torch but it v expensive. Amazon also have minecraft beanie hats - sorry don't know how to do links. Again not cheap - around £20 - but look nice and are at least useful.

Right, well I've made the front of the cushion cover from scraps of old trousers and shirts. I've never done patchwork before and it's all over the place, but the overall effect is quite cool!

I have a very cheap sewing machine (which I spend more time threading than sewing with, but that's beside the point), just cut out a square cardboard template (7.5/7.5 cm, 8 squares by 8 to fit Ikea cushions) then cut out enough squares (use slightly thick cotton, nothing stretchy - all the bits I really messed up are mostly because of the unstable fabric). I looked on YouTube (typed something along the lines of patchwork for beginners, or patchwork tutorials, and followed the same steps on how to make a quilt. The longest part was cutting out the squares.

There are lots of pixelleated imapges if you google, which my DC use to make Hama bead Minecraft items (for keys rings maybe?). I reckon they would translate well into patchwork or other crafts as well.
Also printable papercraft items - you could print and cut out several, add a glue stick, for your DC to assemble. Something for the stocking. here

The Argos t-shirts are good (quite small sizes though).

starlingsintheslipstream · 24/10/2013 08:42

I've just opened the Argos T-shirt and, as Chippy says, it is v.small. I bought a 5-6 for 5 year old ds and it looks more like a 3-4. Will definitely have to go back sadly.
