Another year of spreadsheets and carols. <swirls ice in brandy>
You wonderful lot you, gorn and done it again.<sniff>

It's always lovely for the donator to know their parcel has arrived, so if you've had a Christmas Appeal gift this year and you'd like to use your unique MNcode to pop on this thread to say thank you, now's your chance.

We'd like to start you all off by being the first to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who's taken part. You're all brilliant!

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email Santa.Claus@mumsnet.com.

Merry Christmas!

Just a little extra post to my lovely Santa to say that I have been browsing a certain shop's online sale and am very excited about what I can buy for the DCs, and tell them it's because of a stranger's kindness! There is a toy that is just right for the LO and scooters for the older ones. They will be delighted - they have asked me plenty of times and I have always had to say no. Now I can say yes!! Thank you thank you thank you!! xx

Xmas2013MN2043 Wed 08-Jan-14 17:52:53

I'm joining this very belatedly (for which I apologise profusely). I don't think my Santa has posted here so this may not be seen, but if you posted my parcel, it must have got lost in the post.

If you weren't able to post it or changed your mind that is absolutely fine - just to be nominated was present enough for me. smile I just didn't want you to be have sent it and then be wondering why I didn't turn up to say thank you.

Thank you and happy New Year!

minniebar Sun 05-Jan-14 18:23:00

Oh, and I'm quite happy to have outed myself, so if any of my Santas would like to know why I think I was nominated (might not be obvious even with an advanced search, not sure, relevant threads might have been deleted) then by all means PM me - I've even got pics!

Just wanted to say a huge, massive thank you for my Next vouchers. This is brilliant and very good timing. I desperately need new clothes so I will be using this wisely.

Its been a crap year and the thoughtfulness of this has really, really made my heart swell. I was grinning like an idiot when I received it.

Its so lovely to be thought of when, because of the way life just pans out sometimes, you have to put yourself on the back burner for such a long time.

Thank you, happy new year. Xxxx

Santas A, B and C9256, a little update..
My boys loved the hungry frogs game and the superman firing thingy. They were amazed that someone could make them up stockings and are very keen to spend their Hamleys voucher. I have suggested we hold off a week of two as they have been very fortunate to receive nice things and I want them to really appreciate what they choose. I haven't yet bought my duvet cover, as it has been a rather hectic time trying to keep on top of the house and playing with the boys. By the time they go to bed, I flop on the sofa (and have made a photobook of dh in the evenings too).
Santa A the stocking you made for me was gorgeous. The hand made broach and the bangle are especially precious and right up there as my favourite presents this year. Thank you all again. We will think of you all in the coming year. The boys have been suitably distracted. We have thought about their daddy and made time to share our feelings and lots of cuddles, but we have enjoyed lots of playing and laughing too. You have helped us to do this.

minniebar Thu 02-Jan-14 17:17:29

Many apologies for the delay - we have finally opened everything now - such generosity!

Xmas2013SantaA8353 - DS does love it, excellent choice! I love the idea that you chose it because your DS likes it too.

Xmas2013SantaB8353 - wow, have you been round our house?! I always seem to have cold feet and love baths, the DCs love colouring and are obsessed with Scooby Doo. Just utterly perfect.

Xmas2013SantaC8353 - wonderful books, next on the list.

You vipers are bloody marvellous. And thank you to MNHQ for sorting it all out. It's been a humbling and emotional experience being part of it - really.

thanks thanks thanks

MN4057, I am SantaC. I am sorry not to be posting in that name, but I cant remember my MN password to be able to effect the name change. I hope you received the vouchers, posted in the week before Christmas. Fingers crossed that you did, and that you had a very merry Christmas.

Santa9226 Wed 01-Jan-14 22:17:19

Hi bouncingbelle, I am glad it arrived safely, and hope you find something lovely for yourself. May the warm MN glow stay with you through the coming weeks, and may this year be the best yet.

bouncingbelle Mon 30-Dec-13 18:08:46

To Santa 9226. Firstly, sorry for taking so long to add to this thread and secondly, THANK YOU for my lovely voucher which I shall spend on something just for me smile

To say that the idea of the kindness of strangers, in going out and buying me a gift, and realising that I have been having a terrible time and actually nominating me in the first place, is what has kept me going over the last few months is no exaggeration.

I may well buy something that keeps me warm on the outside with my voucher but the goodness of the mn secret Santa has made me all warm on the inside smile

Xmas2013MN1364 Mon 30-Dec-13 13:36:50

Slightly speechlessly coming back to this thread - as it turns out that I do have two Santas...

Firstly, Xmas2013SantaA1364 - I have already thanked you upthread, but I didn't get your nickname right (too excited and touched to be able to read properly!) - l do hope you saw it, and thank you, so so much, once again.

Xmas2013SantaB1364.... I collected your wonderful parcel from the post office today. It did arrive in time, but I wasn't at home to receive it - I'm sorry that we didn't manage to have it here for Christmas Day - but, that said, it's been very special to have some presents to unwrap and a card to read today, as we were feeling quite sad, and your gifts and you lovely, lovely words really moved us. Thank you so so much: for the delicious-looking chocolates (hurrah, I love chocolate!), the gorgeous photo frame, and for the very special little Christmas stocking containing the two hearts, one for each of our children. It makes such a huge difference when people mention and honour our DD. We may not know you, but in this respect, you have outdone most of our friends this Christmas wink grin The hearts have gone straight up on our Christmas wreath (no tree, but a wreath going up the banister) and they will be a part of our decorations every year. Thank you, thank you.... thanks wine cake

And again to my nominator as well - whoever you are, and whoever my two Santas are - you have made our Christmas-time better than we expected it be this year, you have shown and reminded us what 'strangers' can do for each other, and we are incredibly grateful. THANK YOU!!!!

Dillytante Mon 30-Dec-13 13:15:11

Dear Xmas2013SantaA7460

Thank you so much for our lovely presents smile You are obviously a crafter, as got some lovely cotton knitted face clothes and a presumably homemade bookmark, which will stop me using receipts! Those cookie truffles were delicious by the way, and the handcream lovely, everything was fab, thank you so much, it's so thoughtful of you.

smile smile smile

Dearest SantaA9325,

Just another note to tell you I have decided to spend my gift card on a bottle of Jo Malone's Orange Blossem scent. I have long wanted to purchase this fabulous fragrance but simply could not afford it. You made my wish come true! I will think of you and the sweet Mumsnetter who nominated me everytime I spritz myself...with love and hugs...

Xmas2013SantaA5953 Sun 29-Dec-13 11:58:34

Really pleased you like the presents smile

Happy New Year! x

MN5293

Nothing yet? I did send it on the 6th of December.

Xmas2013MN9702 Sun 29-Dec-13 10:55:56

To Santa A9702, I was astonished to receive your lovely gifts and the dc were thrilled with frustration - ds2 demanded we open it immediately and play there and then! Am looking forward to treating dp and I with the voucher. Thank you so, so much.

To Santa B9702, thank you so much for the beautiful scarf. I will treasure it always! And the voucher will be going towards some new bedding for dp and I.

Thank you both, you really have made a smile appear on our faces this Christmas!

And MN, thank you for the box from ELC - the dc love their extra gifts!

The appeal is a wonderful, wonderful thing. I won't ever hear criticism of it - the kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity of you all made a huge difference to our Christmas!

zzzzz Sat 28-Dec-13 23:08:22

MN1888, you marvelous Australian Santa! Thank you. I shall dream of life in Perth all year. grin I was so touched to get my pressy. <sniff>, my dh doesn't really do Christmas, and the children are too young so it was just SO kind. Thank you.

Xmas2013SantaA8871 Sat 28-Dec-13 21:19:02

8871 you are entirely welcome. My dcs got minions too and they have been a huge hit. Hope you enjoyed dr who on Xmas day, I watched it last night and loved it. May the coming year be a great one for the whole family

Xmas2013MN5053 Sat 28-Dec-13 19:58:07

thank you so much to my other sender - you are so lovely! we were away over christmas, and got back to a wonderful surprise at home, very welcome after a day on the road with 2 pre-schoolers!

I have been so touched by this, not sure what to say other than thanks, you are all marvellous!

Flisspaps Sat 28-Dec-13 16:15:44

WheresTheCoffee I have tried to reply to your message on Safari and chrome and it keeps freezing sad

We did have a lovely Christmas - thank you! The stuff in the present was just perfect for us - It's as if you are a mind-reader! Thank you so much again, I hope you had a lovely Christmas too xxx

Xmas2013MN5573 Sat 28-Dec-13 15:14:50

Can I say thank you once more? I had some incredibly disappointing news yesterday, following two more disappointing or sad things that happened over Christmas and the chocolate you sent is about the only thing keeping me going atm. That and the feeling of support from Mumsnet that this was a tangible reminder of. (sorry for convoluted sentence. Am rather upset.)

Thank you

Xmas2013MN5305 Sat 28-Dec-13 10:39:01

Dear Xmas2013SantaA5305

I just wanted to thank you for your super thoughtful box of goodies - it was an absolute joy to open and rummage through. We adore Nativity (although didn't own a copy) so we did just as instructed and watched it in our PJs (and Christmas socks) whilst munching on popcorn and chocolate, and painting our sparkly nails (well DH didn't partake in that part)!

The chocolate face masks went down particularly well with the Dds, who smeared them on in order to make themselves look like muddy zebras...bless.

Thank you so much, what a kind and thoughtful person you are. I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas, and my best wishes go with you for a very Happy New Year! Xxx

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange Fri 27-Dec-13 20:58:25

I've lost my MN Xmas name. Poop. Whoever sent a recipe book to Canada... It just got here and I am very happy. I was actually looking at it yesterday to spend my Amazon vouchers so it was very appreciated. Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Posting again in the hope that someone somewhere got some baby toys - a jellycat stuffed animal (I've actually forgotten what I picked in the end) and some building blocks. I do hope they turned up.

Xmas2013SantaA7938 Fri 27-Dec-13 18:57:43

After a long and tiring Christmas marathon, I have finally had 5 mins to sit down and read this thread and I found a message from my Christmas mumsnetter. Xmas2013MN7938 I have pm'd you in case you don't see this.

A perfect end to the slog of 16 people in my house for 2 days. So happy it arrived and was well received.

A lovely thing to do for all concerned. Thanks SandyMN winethanks for all the hard work in organising it.

SantaA8867

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou from all of us.

We went away on the 20th until today, so you've probably been fretting that your parcel hadn't arrived.

What an AMAZING generous parcel to come home to, thank you VERY much, the two boys were astonished that someone had sent them something, even more so that it came via the magic of Mumsnet!

I love my perfect vouchers, and have already opened the chocolates before I start to put everything away and load the washing machine, all those exciting post-trip things!

I hope you had a lovely Christmas, thanks for thinking of me. xxxx

ps: tried to namechange to my Xmas name, but it was beyond me after 5 hours in the car, mostly in a trafficjam!
