My DS will be 16mths at Christmas, I really want to get him a toy farm. The little people one looks great and has good reviews, but I had an idea of starting a happy land collection so which would you recommend?

Also he loves playing with cars so my mum wants to get him a car garage, the vetech toot toot garage has good reviews on amazon but I have found all vetech toys to be very noisy, anyone experienced the elc one? He already has the emergency vehicle set from elc so I was hoping he could use that on it but then the vetech one can be added to and extended.
Thank you in advance for your help

Not the vTech one!

I got my son the little vTech Toot Toot police car for his stocking and it is cute. Noisy but cute.

As my older son will definitely be after it so I got the set of three Toot Toot cars as an under the tree present. I had a play with them when they arrived. Even in the box they are annoying, they talk endlessly and seem to set each other off (I am not sure they are supposed to be interactive or mine are just haunted!).

Since I found three being used by an adult (rather than a child who will press them again and again) overwhelming I immediately took all the other Toot Toot stuff of the list. The cars on their own are more than enough.

My son got the Fisher Price garage on his first birthday and loved it. He still plays it with it now (age three and a half). My younger son is now going to inherit as my older son will have the ELC wooden one for Christmas.

DS had the ELC one (though that was several years ago now) and it was by far his favourite ever toy. It lasted about 4 years and is still going strong now having been gifted to his preschool group behind his back
Also a lot quieter :o

My son has the ELC lights and sounds garage and still plays with it now at age 2.7. He absolutely loves vehicles of every kind and is playing with little diecast cars in it right now!

I got him a wooden farm set for his 2nd birthday (think it's from Big Jigs) and he does like that too. He has lots and lots of Happyland stuff too, but mostly just likes playing with the vehicles (and sometimes the animals).

There was a post on HUKD about some good bargains on wooden and plastic toy farms that runs out at the end of today if it helps? Here: www.hotukdeals.com/deals/wooden-farm-set-half-price-9-99-free-delivery-until-midnight-13-10-toys-r-1679280

Happy Land is absolutely fantastic. Brought some for DD1s 4th birthday last year and have continued to buy it since (currently have about 10 boxes of the stuff wrapped up for Christmas) DD1 whos 5 and DD2 almost 3 love it.

DS had the ELC Big City garage for his 2nd birthday and it is still played with nearly 4 years later. If you are able to wait a few months or buy it for Christmas and put it away for a few months I would say that it's better value than the toddler ones.
