WTF do I get a 5yo who has requested a pigeon for xmas

As per the title really.

She is obsessed with pigeons, she won't be persuaded with a budgie or any other type of bird.

She wrote a letter to Santa and hid it under her pillow, basically begging him for a pigeon but saying not to tell me because I won't let her have one Sad

If anyone has any bright ideas I will be eternally grateful.

brinsleyanimalrescue.org/sponsor/

Scroll down to the pigeon bit, £30 one off payment. And you can explain that it IS her pigeon but is being looked after by the best people possible and she can go and visit, but that they can not be kept at home...or something like that.

Or...the letter could be from Santa, saying that he can't bring one to live in the house, so he's put one especially for her in the perfect place where it can live happily with it's pigeon friends? Blame Santa ;)

I know a toy pigeon is not the same, but there is this or this .

Could Santa write to her and explain he can't give living things as gifts?

I'm so pleased to see this, my 6yo has been after a pigeon for a while! Fortunately she's happy with the budgie we got instead.

Thank you so much Flowers

I will do all of the above, sponsor a pigeon, the place isn't too far from us either so we could visit , write a letter from Santa, she will probably listen to him rather than me, and buy her a toy one.

Hopefully that will be enough to distract her from trying to kidnap the poor things and take them home. I'm so glad she isn't the only one who is pigeon obsessed too.

Wine to you all.

We have it and the kids love playing.

Thanks Doris I'll add that to the list too.

Who knew there were so many pigeon things, all I could find were books. Hopefully if I distract her with all these toys she might not notice we don't have a real one Grin

Wow, I thought DS1 was 'unusual' in his gift requests, but even he has never asked for a pigeon Grin.

He did ask for an "apple picker" when he was 5 though. That was a bit of a challenge.

Don't you know that Santa NEVER brings live animals - it's far too cold on the sleigh and just not safe for them to be - what if they wriggled and fell off!??!! Plus, the kitties would frighten the little animals and the puppies would frighten the kitties! ;)

Worked for us for the last umpteen years.

No1 son when about 3 asked Santa for a lamp. Santa looked a bit puzzled and said "oh like Aladdin's lamp, a magic one?"

Cue No1 son with a look of total disdain "Nooo, a reading lamp like they have in Argos!" :o

My DB, aged 4, asked for coathangers once. When interviewed by a journalist. It made the front page of the local paper, with the headline 'all I want for Christmas is...'. DM was mortified that all the neighbours would think us so poor that all he wanted was to be able to have crumple-free clothes...

Ha Ha coathangers!!

When my twin nephews were small, my SIL looked at one twins list and saw that he wanted a pair of white gloves.......all became clear when she read the other boys list and saw he wanted a snooker table.....

DD would like a pet monkey, a pet lion, a real magic wand and a broomstick which really flies. She'd also like a red car to drive herself to school next year.

We are working with items from much further down her list, and DD is learning a valuable lesson for a 3yr old that Father Christmas can't bring everything you want.
