What herbs do you cook with at Christmas?

I am planning to grow herb tubs for Christmas gifts to replace things I normally get for teachers, a couple of neighbours and several random people who we only ever see at Christmas!

I have loads of seeds for herbs as I do buy gardening magazines and have gathered so many free packets.

So tell me what are your must have for Christmas, I always have sage and thyme but what else do you you use?

I have plenty of seed trays and compost, I even have about 20 lovely 20cm zink planters that I got for about 20p each in a closing down sale.

Need to make my list now so I can figure out how and when to grow them all!

Oh dear, the Christmas topic has been abandoned! Maybe I should move to gardening

I use a bay leaf in my bread sauce (but that's a bay tree -and I just buy the dried ones)

Not so much at Christmas though- but chives in a sour cream potato bake.

I've tried those herb pots on the windowsill (but they get those annoying little flies in them)
I've tried growing parsley outside (for my guinea-pigs, not for us) but the blardy slugs ate it all.

If you want to do herb pots for teachers, why not do them at the end of term (summer holidays) then they can grow them on outside. Though if they were for eating I'd do them in hanging baskets to stop the slugs'n'snails getting a free meal
