You don't, in my experience. No need.

If you want to commemorate it, get a lovely bauble for the tree, Baby's 1st Christmas or similar.

Only because I have older children who will want to help the baby unwrap something.... I will be re wrapping some small teddies and a couple of books we received as gifts for the baby when she was born.

My ds was 2 weeks old at Xmas, I got him musical toys like a glow worm, good night scout that played music, rattles etc. I also got him a bumbo for when he was older (I also have an older ds so needed to make it look like Santa had got baby some too). He was also dressed as Santa for the day aswell Grin

My Dsis had to do this when her DS3 was a newborn just so the older boys didn't think Santa had forgotten their baby brother. She wrapped up some nappies, wipes, baby shampoo, bum cream etc, plus a couple of books/toys for when he was older. That way it looked like they all had a 'good pile' of presents but it wasn't actually anything she wouldn't have bought anyway.

I did this last year. How about a play mat thing with lights in the top? Mamas and papas do one. It's expensive (about £100) but they love the lights even when tiny and the gentle tunes are lovely.

I would buy some toys that she will be needing befoe you know it,

A play mat, maybe a walker, soft rattles,

she will grow in to using toys in no time and to not buying anything seems cruel imo cant believe so many dont.

DD2 is 2 months and has a lot of stuff, more for the benefit of DD1 who would wonder why, and family who want to buy her stuff.

We got her a monkey - family tradition
A taggie cloth
Christmas sleepsuit for Christmas Eve

Relatives have got her a piggy bank, a name sign for her bedroom door, a snow globe etc.

We've got ds2 (will be 2wks at Xmas) a few small toys, but that's because otherwise dd and ds1 would question it.

Congratulations on your new baby.

I'm in the same boat. DD is our second, and so we have pretty much everything we need and more.

I've rewrapped some of the gifts she was given at birth, and have made a list for anyone that asks: more muslins, sunshade for the car window, weaning bowls/plates as ds still uses his (I know it'll be 5 months before we wean, but still)...

I expect she'll be given clothes (as a girl can't possibly wear her brother's cast offs) and toys.

I've got my 2 month old a posh stocking with his name on from Notonthehighatreet - which I hope will last him forever, it's beautiful! I've got a few bits to go in it, eg a pack of dummies, a small Lamaze toy, etc. Exciting!
