Budget not huge because we're skint (£20 each absolute max), but I'd like to buy something lovely for my nieces. Am clueless. Last year they had stationery (sounds dull but they liked it), for their birthdays they've had clothes (youngest) and cash (eldest - I hate giving cash because I think it's lazy but it's what she wanted..).

Help me please?!

A hairdryer? I know it sounds lame but DD was thrilled when she got her own.

Do they wear a bit of makeup? I've got DD loads of basics from the Superdrug range which is cheap as chips. She doesn't need superb quality because, well, she doesn't need any at all Grin but she is arty and likes to experiment and see what suits her.

Dunelm Mill had some lovely vanity boxes for £6.99 or so to put it all in. I'd have loved a present like that although weirdly I couldn't care less about makeup now.

My 13yr old DD loves New look vouchers or iTunes.

If you feel like an adventure Hollister t-shirts are £20 and seem to be a hit with DD and all her friends.

I too have just been browsing the New Look onesies for my dd. She liked the fleece ones when we were in. They are hideous imo, but what do I know? Smile

Asked my dd and she said - iTunes card. She said if its for MN though, she doesn't know if everyone would like one or idiots just because she really likes music.

If not that, there is a hat she wants she says but it's definitely not everyone's taste!

13 year old: a big box full of cotton wool, nail varnish and remover, body sprays, bubble bath, hairspray etc etc etc. I don't like to see such young girls in lots of makeup but think nail varnish and playing around with hairstyles is fine. If makeup, Boots Natural Collection do mascara and soft coloured blushers for about 2 pounds each, which are not too OTT.

Or cheesy teen videos plus popcorn, hot choc sachets, marshmallows etc.

Or socks and knickers with silly prints on from Topshop.

DD aged 11 stared very hard at these so they may end up under the tree

I have a dd aged 13. I have got her some cosy fluffy socks only two pounds, fleece onsie ten pounds both from Primark. She also likes Jack Wills or Republic underwear, I went for the Republic 3 pairs for a ten pound as the Jack Wills were expensive.Paperchase do some nice pens, notebooks, pictures frame etc too.

I have been reliably informed a primark voucher would go down very well.

I wanted my ears pierced at that age so I could wear all those fab earrings places like Claire's accessories have?

If they don't have their ears pierced speak to their Mum and maybe that would go down well.

However all the above things sound great. I would have loved them at 13/11.

Just reread my post. Was not implying my dd and others who wanted iTunes were idiots Blush

It should have read - or it's just.

I have dd's of this age. The oldest is into music so an i-tunes voucher would go down very well. The other thing that she's had before and loved was a Costa Coffee voucher, she loves to pop in on the way back from school either with friends or to get a takeaway (which keeps her warm).

DD2 is 11 and loves clothes so New Look, H&M are all great. Claires is a bit young for this age group I think. She also likes crafty things so something from Hobbycraft would be great.

Have also got stuff from Paperchase, smellies, smelly candle, shopping bag... need to get some more stocking fillers

We always get our teens a Starbucks voucher too.

I made up a manicure kit... emery boards, the shining block, nail varnish remover, clear nail varnish, then a selection of all the hideous colours I would not wear but that I knew she would adore as well as a nail varnish with glitter and cotton wool balls... either pop it into a basket or wrap it up individually.

DD got a camera a couple of years ago. It never gets used as I cracked the screen at the corner by accident she uses the one on her phone!

I agree about the nail-varnish (especially the special-effects stuff), hair stuff, cute socks, etc. Claires is still popular with DD and all her friends. Ditto Primarni, New Look, H&M, but thankfully not Jack Wills/Hollister ATM!

Thanks very much for the ideas folks Smile It's not been long since their birthdays and getting ideas out of them then was worse than pulling teeth! Hopefully they'll appreciate some of your suggestions!
