Hi, does anyone know where I can buy an elf soft toy/ornament please?
I want to do the 'elf on the shelf' this year but struggling to find an elf that doesn't cost nearly £30! Found a couple on amazon but estimated delivery is up to 6 weeks.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Can't help I'm afraid but intrigued by what the 'elf on a shelf' is?

I found an elf on eBay. It was a Gund peppermint elf and cost approx £10 including P&P. It was a 'buy it now' brand new directly from company rather than putting in a bid. Had a quick look there and they still have them. They are quite small- only about 14 inches but very cute!!

Actually just lying here thinking about my elf and there's no way it can be 14 inches.... Maybe more like 6!!! Still half asleep!!!

You can get them from the book depository for slightly more but still over £20. They had an offer a while ago and I got mine for £17.50 so they may go back on offer although I'd be surprised this close to December.

It's the first year for me and I can't wait although still need to work out the details of arrival, no touch etc...

Are you also going to buy the book to do elf on the shelf?

DD is 2 so going to keep it fairly informal this year but might do my own book / letter next year to go with our elf. He's just going to bring goodies and activities this year really.

Like lumpybumpylooloo and littlemissnormal, we bought the Gund peppermint elf from e-bay last year. I think he is a perfect size for getting up to all sorts of mischief.

We didn't do the book. Our elf arrived with a handwritten letter (thanks DH) introducing himself and explaining why he was visiting. We also watched the story being read online - you can find it on you tube.

DS loved it and is already asking if he will be coming back this year.

I like this idea but not sure DS would be very very suspicious and a little freaked out Hmm

Your local garden centre. I spent about £5 on a small soft knitted one... The shop has since clearly heard of elf on the shelf as they have a giant Christmas tree covered in them and also selling the proper elf on the shelf sets!

huffpot, sorry I just noticed your question there. I'm not in the house at the moment but I'll check as soon as I'm home and post who the seller was. I'll get back to you later.

I got our peppermint Gund Elf from ebayer Crusaderware and was really impressed with it! It's bigger than I expected and looks very cute (I looked around and some looked a bit creepy!) I then just made up our own letters and he brings advent calendars each year along with xmas socks and pj's....he gets up to lots of mischief and you can get loads of ideas online.

I found a Scandinavian-looking elf in TK Maxx's Christmas section for £3. He's made of felt and is about 6" tall. He does have his hat pulled over his eyes so may have invent a story about 'magic peeping x-ray vision' or something.

My elf is from the rubyrange too and I'm really pleased with him.
He is extremely cute, he's cute tall too. About 20".

Awwwww I really wish I had seen The Ruby Range elves before ordering my Fiesta elves from the US, they are really gorgeous! I didn't realise my elves had a potential six week delivery time, £25 and they might not arrive in time :(

I have to say the ruby range lady is very nice too, she made my elf in accordance to how I wanted him! Hair colour, clothes, eye colour.
