I'm moving to Southville at the end of this month and don't know a soul in Bristol. Moving from London for work. Have DD (11). Would love to come to a meet-up/Christmas event and get to know people Smile

Helloooo Mrs Wembley. Not sure I approve of this as surely this is taking valuable time away from your reading? But I would be up for a meeting - freckledLeopard, I am southville, whereabouts are you? I am near Dame Emily Park and the swimming pool.

I'm moving to Upton Road at the end of the month. Not sure where it's near as I really don't know the area! Please tell me lots of nice things about it!

North street and the Tabacco factory are great - we can walk to SS great Britain and the arnolfini in 15 mins. ashton court is beautiful and a great place to walk the dog. I am going to a v interesting sounding debate between Christopher hitchens and Howard Marks at the Arnolfini at end of October!

I do miss London but I could never afford to live there and have a much better quality of life in Bristol.

Right, this makes 10 of us now! Is that a party yet?

Actually, two people can make a party if they're the right people and god only knows, Mumsnetters are always the right people for a party.Grin

freeto Until we know if there's going to be lots or just a few of us, I don't want to look into venues, although I have a couple of places in mind. Walking distance from the centre ok?

And could people put in their thoughts about whether they'd want a few canapes, a buffet or something sit down-ish?

Or just a couple of bottles of gin put behind the bar...

Hello MrsWembly and all! What a treat to find this post. I'm moving to Bristol soon, looks like it's a very friendly place with loads going on. Wish I could join you but doubt I'll be there as soon as Christmas, more like next Summer. Have a good party Smile

Oh YES please!

apis are you moving from somewhere close enough that you can come join us and we can regale you on the joys of Brizole for the evening?

I would like it as long as we aren't going clubbing or to one of loud pumping music bars where you can't have a nice sit down and a chat.

I am in Portishead and I know Dolcegusto is here too.

Can I come please?

anywhere close to bus stops/taxi ranks and, just to be fussy, wheelchair friendly. Pub with food?
