Hi ladies smile

Would really appreciate some advice/support/stories from people who have been in a similar situation please...
We have been ttc since March/April this year but no luck getting pg. I came off the pill at around that time and my cycles recently had settled to 28days apart. But this month I was due my period last Fri & it still hasn't shown up.... I'm now a week late. But I've taken 4 pg tests, most recently yesterday, and ALL have come up bfn. Could I be pg... or maybe my body has stopped ovulating altogether?! I haven't been particularly stressed this month, so don't think that would be delaying it.

Advice/support would be really welcome. Thank you smile

Can anyone see this? Haven't spoken about this to any of my friends as we are keeping quiet that we're ttc so would really appreciate some words of wisdom from anyone on here please smile

I am in the same position. I have had normal ish cycles since having my second child in November 2011. Then this month, no period at all. I'm not pregnant and despite a +opk I don't think I ovulated. I am a week late.

I'm just assuming something went a bit wrong this month (I had irregular periods in my teens and 20s as a result of PCOS) and am ignoring it, which means I'm cd8 ish. I am 35.

If I'm not back to normal in the next month or two ill take a trip to a Dr.

The irony is that this was our first month of ttc#3. Maybe my older 2 kids have done a voodoo on me...

I think I'm going to go to the doctors as well, Suzietwo if my period hasn't started by next week. I've never heard of anyone completely missing a period. I just wonder what other possible causes would be for it being so late!

ThoraNomiki Fri 12-Jul-13 08:24:43

Hormonal birth control can mess up your cycles for a while so it might have appeared to be regular for a couple of months and now having an odd one.
Have you been looking out for sign of ovulation? It may have happened late this month or not even occurred yet. Have you been under any stress or taken any unusual medication?
Alternatively it can take a couple of weeks after missed period for some people to get a BFP so you could be pregnant smile

ThoraNomiki Fri 12-Jul-13 08:26:14

Sorry, I see you said about no stress so ignore that one!

Suzietwo Fri 12-Jul-13 08:27:53

i wouldnt go to the Drs until you had a pattern or were a few months late. waste of time

mrsmummytobe Fri 12-Jul-13 08:49:59

Hi ThoraNomiki, I was on the pill for absolutely ages and came off it around March. I had a bit of variation with my cycles but it was all between 28-31 days so this is really weird for me. Last month I wasn't looking out for signs as I had done that the previous months & not got pregnant, so I thought that maybe tracking it was putting too much pressure on & we'd see what happened naturally. Now I wish I had tracked it, at least then I'd know if I ovulated.

mrsmummytobe Fri 12-Jul-13 08:52:05

Suzietwo, I was thinking that hopefully the dr would be able to tell me why it's so late this month.

Suzietwo Fri 12-Jul-13 08:58:37

maybe they will. but id put 1 meeeeeeeelion pounds on the response being: you probably ovulated late or missed a cycle. wait a few months and see if it happens again

it isnt that unusual to miss a period or be quite late once or twice a year and isnt a cause for concern, no matter how irritating it can be.

mrsmummytobe Fri 12-Jul-13 09:10:11

Hmm you are probably right, Suzietwo. Well hopefully I will get my period soon... Never thought I would say that as ttc! So how long did it take you to conceive your first two children? We are trying for our first.

Suzietwo Fri 12-Jul-13 09:12:09

sorry, i should say isnt usually a cause for concern.

my first two came in a reasonable length of time

Trinpy Fri 12-Jul-13 10:37:07

Its completely normal to have delayed ovulation or no ovulation at all occasionally - especially if you have recently stopped bc. I really wouldn't worry about being a week late. I went over 4 months without a period last year due to hormones being all over the place after bc, doctors wouldn't do anything until I'd gone at least 6 months without.

Wuxiapian Fri 12-Jul-13 10:40:05

Mrsmummy, fingers crossed you're pregnant!

mrsmummytobe Fri 12-Jul-13 10:55:59

Thanks Trinpy. I guess it can take ages to get back to normal after being on bc for such a long time. It's just frustrating when ttc. Did your cycle go back to normal after?

Thanks Wuxiapian. Don't think I am though as all the tests have come back negative & I reckon it would show up as positive by now if I was.

blueamber Fri 12-Jul-13 11:24:20

I am in the same position. I came off the pill in April and finally got positive opk and ov pains last month. I am now 11 days late and nothing! I am getting bfns as well.

I will be going to the GP next week as clearly my body gears up for ovulation but then nothing happens and because I had a day of mid-cycle bleeding. If my hormones are off or if there's a bigger problem, I want to find out sooner rather than later. I am hypothyroid as well so would want that checked out again in case that's what's causing the problem.

Good luck mrsmummy and suzietwo, hope you find out soon what your cycle is doing, I know how frustrating it all is!

mrsmummytobe Fri 12-Jul-13 11:30:10

Good luck with the doctor blueamber. I hope they are helpful. It is really frustrating & it's definitely causing me more stress because I don't know what's going on. I want to find out if there is a bigger problem as well, rather than waste time trying every month if it's not going to happen.

geekindisguise Fri 12-Jul-13 15:05:48

Hey the same thing happened to me. I came off the pill March. I had 2 28 day cycles followed by a 35 day cycle. So I'm just hoping things will settle down soon.

Incapinka Sat 13-Jul-13 21:54:48

Am pretty similar although haven't been on BV for 3 years... Due AF last Monday, regular cycle, however no AF and had 2 BFNs. Maybe we are all having a funny month.... Fingers crossed something happens soon

mrsmummytobe Mon 15-Jul-13 17:04:27

Fingers crossed! I still haven't got my period and am still getting bfns!!! 10 days late now sad

Incapinka Mon 15-Jul-13 22:54:10

Me neither. Although bar a tiny but if spotting 9 DPO I have had no other symptoms. Very strange. Would be nice to know one way or the other. Fingers crossed for us all smile

eggsnbeans Tue 16-Jul-13 05:51:46

It took me 7 or 8 months before my hormones settled down after coming off the pill. My cycles went something like 35, 42, 56, 65, 42, 35 days, then settled into a 32-35d pattern. Some people are lucky and get a bfp the first cycle, others take ages! It's also totally normal to have the occasional cycle where you don't ovulate. If you were irregular before you went on BC, you will still probably be irregular when you stop!

IMHE of GPs, they are very unsympathetic until you have been ttc for 12m or longer, and even worse, if you go for an appointment, AF will start that evening!

The problem with ttc is, as soon as you decide that you are ttc, you want to be pregnant yesterday! grin Any everyone tells you they got pg 1st cycle, which just can't be true hmm

Good luck!

Incapinka Tue 16-Jul-13 06:03:52

I haven't been on the pill for 3.5 years...!

mrsmummytobe Thu 18-Jul-13 17:02:58

Eggsnbeans that is so true! Feels like all my friends are falling pregnant! One friend even apparently wasn't even trying, missed 1 pill & fell pregnant!!
My period finally came this morning - a 41 day cycle! - but I had an appointment with the dr booked so went & they told me to make an appt with the nurse for a blood test & swabs then they will do an ultrasound to make sure it's all ok. She also said my hubby should have a speed test. Let's hope there is nothing wrong!

mrsmummytobe Thu 18-Jul-13 17:03:58

Sorry that should read sperm not speed!
